Great piece! Back in the days when I took a LOT of taxis in NYC, I had one driver fall asleep while we were going across the Brooklyn Bridge. I had several who drove in excess of 70 mph down some of the avenues while straddling lanes. The challenge for the robots in Manhattan will be like that in Rome: it's like driving in a dirt-track race. (I loved to drive there.) Don't even think about Ho Chi Minh City or Yogyakarta. Phoenix and SFO are lay-ups.

Great read, I really enjoyed this!
